Gandhi was summoned by a Lucknow court during the 2022 Bharat Jodo Yatra for reportedly making disparaging remarks against the Indian Army.
A Lucknow court summoned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on March 24 for allegedly making disparaging remarks about the Indian Army during the 2022 Bharat Jodo Yatra, according to news agency PTI.

Rahul Gandhi must appear in court, according to Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Alok Verma, who set the hearing for March 24.

On behalf of Uday Shankar Srivastava, the former director of the Border Roads Organisation and a rank equal to that of an army colonel, attorney Vivek Tiwari filed the case.

Gandhi made disparaging remarks regarding a battle between the Indian and Chinese armies on December 9, 2022, on December 16, 2022, Tiwari said, defaming the Indian military.

One more lawsuit alleging slander

A special court heard a second defamation case against the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha on February 11 due to Gandhi’s reportedly offensive comment on Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the 2018 Karnataka assembly elections.

On February 24, the court scheduled the following hearing in which the witness would be subjected to cross-examination. Additionally, the court has mandated that the complainant provide pertinent evidence in the case.

Rahul Gandhi has not shown up in court despite the case going through several procedures over the last five years, according to PTI.

Following a warrant, LoP Gandhi eventually made an appearance in court in December 2023. After complying with the summons in February 2024, the Congress leader was granted bail by the special magistrate.

According to the Raebareli MP, the case was part of a political conspiracy against him, and he is innocent of the charge.
