Putin Denounces Aggression Against Iran in Kremlin Talks with Foreign Minister Araghchi

Russian President Vladimir Putin informs Iran’s Foreign Minister that the aggression against Iran was unfounded.
At the beginning of the Kremlin talks, the Russian president stated that Russia was prepared to assist the Iranian people.
During discussions in Moscow on Monday, June 23, 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin reminded Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi that aggression against Iran was unfounded.
At the beginning of the Kremlin negotiations, Mr. Putin stated that Russia was prepared to assist the Iranian people.

Earlier, the U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear sites were strongly criticized and mourned by Russia.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters that the U.S. moves had sparked a new spiral of escalation and expanded the number of participants in the fight.
He noted that it was still unclear whether there was a radiation risk and what had occurred to Iran’s nuclear facilities.
He stated that there is no reason not to be concerned about the situation in Iran following the strikes.
Although it lacked a mutual defense guarantee, Russia and Iran inked a strategic partnership treaty in January. Moscow has warned that U.S. military engagement might destabilize the entire region and send it into the “abyss” prior to Saturday’s U.S. strikes.
Peskov stated that although they had talked about the potential for U.S. military involvement more generally, U.S. President Donald Trump had not specifically informed Russian President Vladimir Putin about the planned strikes beforehand.
In response to a question about what Russia was prepared to do at this point, Peskov stated that Moscow had offered its mediation services and that what transpired next would depend on Iran’s needs.
According to Abbas Araghchi, Russia is on the “right side of history.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin was congratulated by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Monday for denouncing American assaults on Iran, assuring him that Russia was on “the right side of history.”
Speaking at the beginning of Kremlin negotiations with Putin, Mr. Araghchi informed the Russian leader that President Masoud Pezeshkian and Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had asked him to send their warmest regards to Mr. Putin.
