Serial Offender Manojit Misra Exposed in Kolkata Law College Rape Case Cover-Up

Prime accused a serial offender in the rape case at Kolkata Law College, but his offenses were not prosecuted.
According to a college insider, Misra and his group would alter photos of girls and share them with his buddies. He also had a propensity to make movies.

According to a top Kolkata Police officer, Manojit Misra, the main suspect in the rape case at the Kolkata Law College, is facing at least five charges, including extortion, sexual assault, and attempted murder.

According to the officer, he allegedly stabbed a fellow student in the chest in 2013, just one year into his studies at the same law institution, starting his string of offenses. Despite the fact that the incident led to a formal complaint (a copy of which is in The Indian Express), Misra was never arrested and went missing for three years.

When he reappeared on the college campus in 2017, he was charged with vandalism. It has been learned that he continued to roam freely in spite of a police inquiry.

He was charged with molestation, reportedly wrongfully extorting and confining students, and even “outraging modesty” throughout the course of the following few years, but the officer claimed that nothing was done about it.

In 2022, a first-year student filed an official complaint at the local police station alleging ragging, sexual harassment, and threats, but it was also ignored.

He was described as a habitual criminal by one of his college classmates. He lost contact with everyone when a criminal offence complaint was filed against him at the Kalighat police station in 2018.

He wasn’t seen from 2013 to 2015, then he returned and re-joined in 2017. Since he was facing criminal charges, we all originally objected to his desire to join the student union. He said that he had previously been charged with extortion, molestation, and wrongful imprisonment.

Misra remained active at his alma mater four years after graduating from college. On the suggestion of the college general body, which was presided over by an MLA from the Trinamool Congress, he was hired as temporary staff. He even pretended to be a recruiter for the party’s student wing.

He allegedly drugged and gang-raped a female student in May after luring her in, breaking her head with a hockey stick, filming the attack, and threatening to have her boyfriend arrested if she reported him.

This information strengthens claims that Misra was protected by political patronage.

According to insiders, he continued to have a considerable impact even after being expelled from the college’s Trinamool unit in 2021.

According to a college insider, “he used to spend a lot of time in the union’s office,” underscoring his ongoing influence and presence on campus.

The college administration is also being criticized for permitting someone with numerous felony convictions to obtain employment.

Misra was hired as a “temporary staffer on the recommendation of the college’s general body, which is headed by Trinamool MLA Ashok Deb,” according to the college’s vice principal.

Misra was “probably last time arrested in March or April this year” in a case filed at Kasba police station, but he was later released on bond, according to the top Kolkata police officer, who denied that Misra had ever been arrested.

Police also pointed out that he had previously been arrested for cognisable violations, frequently in the midst of altercations that resulted in counter-complaints.

However, college students assert that his repeated inability to obtain convictions prevented him from relapsing to criminal activity.

According to a campus insider, Misra and his group would alter photos of girls and share them with his buddies. He also had a propensity to capture movies.

Additionally, according to a police officer, they used to take pictures of women and share them online in groups, body shaming and defaming them.

An anonymous college student claimed that even during the RG Kar case, he threatened others against taking part in the “reclaim the night” rally after demanding the death penalty for the offenders in a Facebook post.

The state administration and Kolkata Police have been accused by the Bharatiya Janata Party of “nurturing a monster,” and they are demanding to know why someone with such a record was never held accountable.

The party wrote on social media, “Manojit stabbed a fellow student in the chest in 2013, within a year of starting college (2012). After that, he disappeared for three years. No one was taken into custody. Nothing was done. He was charged with vandalism when he returned to this Kolkata law college in 2017. A formal complaint was submitted. The cops opened an investigation. However, no arrests were made as of yet. A first-year female student complained to Kasba Police Station in 2022 of ragging, extortion, threats, and sexual harassment. Police turned their heads. Again, there was no arrest. In 2025: He continued to walk freely throughout the college four years after graduating.

He recorded the crime, broke a hockey stick on the girl’s skull, gang-raped her, and threatened to kill her boyfriend and arrest her parents if she spoke out while posing as a recruiter for TMC’s student wing. A rapist. A violent criminal. A pawn in politics. Manojit Misra represents how the TMC and police collaborated to create a beast that is protected by the state, not just a single failure. With the help of a system that ignored him or worse, walked hand in hand with him, this man wrecked lives for 12 years without consequence.
