Orange and Yellow IMD Weather Alert Issued for Rainfall Across 7 Indian States

Today’s weather: Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Telangana are among the states for which the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange alerts. According to the meteorological service, on July 8, these states might have a lot of rain. In the meantime, Delhi-NCR is under a yellow alert today and could get light to moderate precipitation.
IMD warns of “very heavy rainfall.”
The following areas were under a “very heavy rainfall” warning from IMD:
Odisha and Chhattisgarh on July 8, Vidarbha on July 8 and 9, and Madhya Pradesh until July 10.
until July 10 in Uttarakhand and East Rajasthan, and July 8 in Punjab and Haryana.
Over the following six to seven days, across the Goa and Ghat regions of Madhya Maharashtra; Gujarat until July 9; Marathawada on July 8 and 9; and Saurashtra and Kutch on July 12 and 13.

In addition, until July 9, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal will experience hot, muggy weather. The fishermen’s warning for Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, Gujarat, Goa, and Karnataka suggests “total suspension of fishing operations,” and it advises against going into the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal.

In the midst of the IMD’s yellow alert, Kolkata awoke Monday morning to torrential rain. Light to moderate rain is expected in a number of West Bengali regions today, according to the Skymet prediction. “Weather Alert for #WesBengal,” read a post on X. Over Bankura, Barddhaman, Birbhum, Hooghly, Howrah, Kolkata, Murshidabad, Nadia, North 24 Parganas, Paschim Medinipur, Purba Medinipur, Puruliya, and South 24 Parganas, there is a chance of light to moderate rain.

On July 7, Uttarkashi in Uttarakhand saw severe damage due to heavy rainfall. Road connectivity to Yamunotri was disrupted when a bridge on the national highway leading to the city washed away at Ojri in the Uttarkashi district, according to ANI.
