Election Schedule

The Maharashtra State Election Commission has outlined a clear timeline for the elections. Key dates include:

  • Nomination filing: December 23 to December 30, 2025
  • Scrutiny of nominations: December 31, 2025
  • Last date for withdrawal of candidature: January 2, 2026
  • Polling day: January 15, 2026 (single phase across all 29 corporations)
  • Vote counting: January 16, 2026
  • Campaigning ends: 24 hours before polling, on January 14, 2026

The Model Code of Conduct is already in effect, ensuring fair play by restricting official actions and campaign activities. Polling will use Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for over three crore voters statewide, including those in Nanded-Waghala.

Eligibility for voting in Nanded-Waghala Municipal Corporation elections requires:

  • Indian citizenship.
  • Age of 18 years or above as on January 1, 2026 (qualifying date).
  • Residency in the municipal corporation’s jurisdiction.
  • Registration in the voter list for the specific ward.

Voter lists have been finalized recently, with ward-wise lists published by December 15, 2025, and polling station lists by December 20, 2025. Polling station-wise lists will be available by December 27, 2025. Voters with duplicate entries in electoral rolls—marked with a double-star—must submit a written declaration and affidavit specifying their polling station to prevent misuse.

How to Check Voter Status and Download Voter ID

To confirm your voter status:

  1. Visit the official Maharashtra State Election Commission website at mahasec.maharashtra.gov.in.
  2. Select “Search Voter” or “Voter List” option.
  3. Enter details like name, father’s name, ward number, and date of birth.
  4. Download the voter list PDF for your ward or e-EPIC (electronic Voter ID) if enrolled.

Nanded residents can also check local municipal corporation offices or district election portals for ward-specific lists. If your name is missing, file a claim for inclusion immediately, as deadlines are approaching.

Voter ID Card: Importance and Alternatives

The Voter ID (EPIC) is the primary document for identification at polling stations. It proves your voter status and includes your photo, address, and unique ID number.

If you lack a Voter ID:

  • Valid alternatives include Aadhaar card, PAN card, passport, driving license, or any government-issued photo ID with address.
  • Ration card or bank passbook may suffice if they have your photo.

Authorities emphasize carrying any photo ID to avoid denial at the booth. First-time voters should enroll via Form 6 on the NVSP portal (nvsp.in).

Polling Day Essentials

On January 15, 2026, polling stations in Nanded-Waghala will operate from 7 AM to 6 PM, subject to local advisories. Arrive early to avoid queues.

What to carry:

  • Voter slip (received from booth-level officers).
  • Photo ID proof.
  • Follow queue discipline; separate lines for men, women, seniors (above 80), and disabled voters.

Inside the booth, verify your details on the voter list, receive a slip, and cast your vote privately via EVM. No phones or campaigning allowed within 100 meters of the station. Special provisions include ramps for disabled voters and postal ballots for essential service workers.

Post-Poll Process

Counting occurs on January 16 at designated centers. Results for 2,869 corporator seats across Maharashtra, including Nanded-Waghala’s wards, will determine the new municipal leadership. Winners form the corporation to manage local governance for the next term.

Key Responsibilities for Voters

Report violations like bogus voting or inducements to election helplines (e.g., 1800-222-990 or local SEC offices). Avoid spreading unverified information on social media, as exit polls are prohibited until after polls.

These elections shape Nanded’s infrastructure, sanitation, water supply, and urban development. Active participation ensures accountable local governance.
