Air India Boeing 787 crash
An Air India Boeing 787 crash with 242 people on board crashed right after taking off from Ahmedabad airport. The flight was headed to London. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) claimed that there were 232 passengers and 10 crew members.
At 1:38 p.m., a video of the plane flying low and having trouble getting higher shows it crashing into the ground and exploding in a huge ball of fire. It had a lot of gasoline because it was flying a long way to London.

At a very low altitude of 825 feet, the disastrous failure to acquire lift happened in the last moments. Sanjay Lazar, an aviation specialist, told NDTV that the plane definitely couldn’t climb.
The airline claimed in a statement that flight AI 171, which was flying from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, was involved in an incident today. Air India said in a statement, “At this moment, we are finding out more information and will share more updates as soon as possible.”
Pictures from the site show a thick column of grey smoke rising from the ground. At least two dozen ambulances have come, and some have transported those who were hurt to the hospital. Traffic has being redirected by the police.

Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, the Minister of Civil Aviation, said he is personally keeping an eye on the issue and instructed all aviation and emergency response agencies to act quickly and in a coordinated way.
He wrote on X, “My thoughts and prayers are with everyone on board and their families.”
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in a statement that the plane, which was piloted by Captain Sumeet Sabharwal with 8,200 hours of experience and First Officer Clive Kundar with 1,100 hours of experience, made a Mayday call moments before it crashed.
