Rahul claims that the EC was “red handed” and criticises the special roll revision in Bihar.
NEW DELHI: Rahul Gandhi, a Congress leader, intensified his criticism of the Election Commission (EC) on Thursday, claiming that the EC was “red handed” stealing votes under the guise of Bihar’s Special Intensive Revision of the electoral rolls. Gandhi also questioned whether the polling body had fully turned into the BJP’s “Election chori branch.”
Rahul Gandhi Slams Election Commission Bihar Voter Fraud, Calls It BJP’s ‘Election Chori Branch’
The EC has consistently insisted that the revision, which is taking place after 22 years, will remove duplicate entries and ineligible individuals from the voter list and add those who are legally eligible.
Ajit Anjum, whose YouTube channel is hosting a series on the special intense revision (SIR) of Bihar’s election rolls, posted something that Gandhi shared.
“The Bihar EC has been exposed for stealing votes under the guise of “SIR.” Work is merely stealing, but it is called “SIR,” and whomever discovers it will face a formal complaint. Gandhi stated in a Hindi post on X.
“Is the EC still the “Election Commission,” or has it entirely changed into the “Election Chori” branch of the BJP?” the Lok Sabha’s Leader of the Opposition stated.
The local government has accused Anjum of inciting communal strife in the Begusarai district. In addition to sharing a screenshot of a filed FIR against him, he had refuted the accusation.
Due to a lack of citizenship paperwork, opposition parties claim that the current effort will deny citizenship to crores of eligible residents.
According to Congress national secretary K C Venugopal, the BJP-controlled EC is exposed by the SIR exercise’s findings. According to preliminary estimates, this rushed process is depriving 35 lakh citizens of their right to vote. Document requirements are causing chaos on the ground, BLOs have complete control over who can be enrolled or not, and people fear that their ability to vote will be taken away from them.
Journalists who reveal this obvious ‘Votebandi’ are subject to FIRs, and divisive agendas are promoted to divert attention from the true problem. “This smells like widespread election tampering, and we will never tolerate it,” he continued.
Gyanesh Kumar, the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), praised Bihar’s eligible voters on Wednesday for their enthusiastic involvement in the “much-needed” purification of the electoral records during SIR.
The Supreme Court was considering a number of pleas challenging the purpose of the SIR prior to the state’s assembly elections later this year, which coincided with the CEC’s comments.
