Election Schedule Overview

The Maharashtra State Election Commission has set a uniform schedule for elections across 29 municipal corporations, including Latur. All key dates are as follows:

  • Nomination filing: December 23 to December 30, 2025
  • Scrutiny of nominations: December 31, 2025
  • Last date for withdrawal of candidature: January 2, 2026
  • Polling day: January 15, 2026 (single phase)
  • Vote counting: January 16, 2026
  • Campaigning ends: 24 hours before polling, on January 14, 2026

The Model Code of Conduct is already in effect, regulating campaign activities and official conduct to maintain fairness.

Voter Eligibility and Registration

To vote in the Latur Municipal Corporation elections, individuals must meet these criteria:

  • Be an Indian citizen.
  • Be at least 18 years old on January 1, 2026.
  • Reside in the Latur municipal ward jurisdiction.
  • Be registered in the electoral roll for the relevant ward.

Voter lists are being finalized with a revised schedule. Ward-wise lists, after objections, were due by December 15, 2025. Polling station-wise lists will be published by December 27, 2025, and the list of polling stations by December 20, 2025. Voters can check their names online via the Maharashtra State Election Commission portal or at local municipal offices. If your name is missing, contact the booth-level officer immediately for inclusion.

Special measures address duplicate entries: Voters with names appearing multiple times will see a double-star mark and must submit a written declaration with an affidavit specifying their polling station.

How to Check Your Voter Details

Accessing voter information is straightforward:

  1. Visit the official Maharashtra SEC website at mahasec.maharashtra.gov.in.
  2. Select “Voter Services” and enter your details like name, date of birth, and ward.
  3. Download your voter ID slip, which includes your polling station and serial number.

Municipal offices in Latur will display printed lists. For assistance, email or call the SEC’s computerization cell if technical issues arise during verification.

Polling Day Essentials

Polls will use Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for efficiency. Over three crore voters statewide are expected, with around 2,869 corporators to be elected across all corporations.

On January 15:

  • Carry your voter ID slip, EPIC (Electors Photo Identity Card), or alternatives like Aadhaar, passport, or driving license.
  • Polls open at 7 AM and close at 6 PM; queues after 6 PM will be accommodated.
  • Locate your booth via the voter list or app.
  • Follow queue discipline; no phones or campaigning inside polling stations.

Voters with disabilities or seniors can request assistance. Mock polls may occur prior for familiarization.

Key Changes and Precautions

These elections follow Supreme Court directives to complete before January 31, 2026. Recent municipal council polls on December 2 highlighted issues like bogus voting, prompting stricter scrutiny. In Latur, expect enhanced checks at booths.

Candidates will contest for corporator seats in Latur’s wards. Stay updated via official channels, avoiding unverified social media claims. Report violations to the returning officer.

Importance of Your Vote

Latur Municipal Corporation manages local infrastructure, water supply, sanitation, and urban planning. Your vote shapes city governance for the next term, influencing development priorities. With major parties eyeing control amid statewide contests, including high-profile BMC polls, participation ensures representation.

Prepare early: Verify details now, plan your polling visit, and encourage family. High turnout strengthens democracy at the grassroots.
