A political figure in Maharashtra has stirred up controversy by accusing 72 high-ranking officials and previous ministers of being involved in a honey trap. The allegations surfaced on a trip to Nashik. With connections to events at a five-star hotel and participation from officials in Nashik, Mumbai, and Pune, investigations are still ongoing.
Mumbai: A political figure in Maharashtra has caused a stir in the state’s political circles by claiming that 72 high-ranking officials and former ministers had fallen victim to a honey trap. During a casual conversation with reporters while the leader was in Nashik, the assertion was made.
Although it is yet unknown if the films linked to the case are actual proof of a honey trap, a top official from Nashik is one of those accused. The issue initially surfaced when a complaint about activities that took place in a five-star hotel was submitted to the Mumbai Naka police station in Nashik.
The investigation is still underway since, in spite of the grave accusations, no officials have yet to come forward to address the honey trap claims. According to TV9 Marathi, preliminary investigations indicate that authorities and leaders from Nashik, Mumbai, and Pune are participating. Public interest in the developments has increased since this disclosure was made during the Vidhan Sabha’s current monsoon session.
A former office bearer of a well-known Nashik political party has been revealed as the mastermind behind the honey trap. The seriousness of the situation is highlighted by the fact that several complaints were filed, three with the Thane district police and one in Nashik, after a top politician openly mentioned the problem.
According to the charges, seven former ministers, civil servants, and Class One administrative officers are involved. Serious extortion allegations are included in the accusations; according to sources, the honey trap commander sought three crores from a senior official, which led to the officer’s suicide attempt. A police report was then made by the officer’s wife, who also provided video proof.
Since the complainants have asked to remain anonymous throughout the investigation, the ongoing investigations are being conducted discreetly. The police’s dedication to safeguarding anonymity is demonstrated by the lack of information they have provided in response to enquiries. Additionally, it is said that the ministers involved are from North Maharashtra, as evidenced by the complaints’ mention of their names. But since the police haven’t revealed these names, there has been a lot of conjecture over who they are and the political ramifications of this developing issue. As this significant incident unfolds, political circles are still debating and asking questions.
