Election Schedule and Key Dates

The State Election Commission has finalized the timeline for PCMC polls. Voting will occur across all 32 wards on January 15, 2026. Results will be declared the following day, January 16, 2026. Ward-wise final electoral rolls were published on December 15, 2025, and the list of polling stations will be released on December 20, 2025. Preparations include robust administrative, manpower, and technological setups to ensure transparency and adherence to the Model Code of Conduct.

Ward Structure and Seat Reservations

PCMC comprises 32 wards, each electing four corporators, for a total of 128 seats in the House. Reservations include 64 seats for women, 20 for Scheduled Castes, three for Scheduled Tribes, and 34 for Backward Classes, with women’s quota applied across categories. This structure, approved by the State Election Commission on October 6, 2025, reflects the 2011 Census data for the civic area’s population of 17.27 lakh, including 2.73 lakh Scheduled Caste and 36,535 Scheduled Tribe residents.

Voter Information and Electoral Rolls

The total electorate stands at 1,713,891 voters, comprising 905,728 men, 807,966 women, and 197 from the ‘other’ category. Ward 16 has the highest number at 75,105 voters, while Ward 23 has the lowest at 33,033. Residents can check their names in the final electoral rolls published on December 15, 2025, via the official PCMC election portal or Voter Help Centers. For assistance, use the TRUE VOTER mobile app or helpline numbers 7447455861 to 7447455870.

Polling Stations and Voting Process

A total of 2,034 polling stations have been identified across PCMC limits, with the final list due on December 20, 2025. Voters must carry a valid ID such as Aadhaar card, voter ID, passport, or driving license. Polling will typically run from 7 AM to 6 PM, though exact timings will be confirmed closer to the date. The process emphasizes electronic voting machines (EVMs) for efficiency, with strict surveillance and police coordination for law and order.

How to Check Voter Status and Apply for Corrections

To verify enrollment, visit the PCMC election website or local Voter Help Centers (VHCs). Forms for additions, deletions, or corrections in electoral rolls are available under the “Election One Window Scheme.” Submit applications early, as deadlines align with the publication of rolls. Candidates’ affidavits, nomination lists, and booth-wise voter details from past elections are also accessible online for reference.

Eligibility Criteria for Voters

Eligible voters are Indian citizens aged 18 or above, residing in PCMC limits on the qualifying date, and not disqualified under election laws. Ordinary residents, service voters, and those absent on election duty qualify. First-time voters, especially youth turning 18 by January 2026, should register promptly if not already listed.

Key Preparations by PCMC Administration

PCMC Commissioner and Election Officer Shravan Hardikar has confirmed all systems are in place for smooth polls. This includes staffing, logistics, voter facilitation, and technological frameworks per State Election Commission guidelines. Close ties with police ensure enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct, promoting free and fair elections.

What to Expect on Polling Day

Arrive early at your assigned polling station with photo ID. Queue separately for men, women, and seniors/disabled voters. After verification, receive a slip, cast your vote via EVM, and dip your finger in ink. Avoid campaigning or gatherings near booths. Post-poll, counting at designated centers will use secure protocols, with results announced swiftly.
