Severe Rain Alert Issued Across Mumbai and Coastal Maharashtra by IMD

Today’s forecast calls for severe rain in other parts of Maharashtra and an orange alert in Mumbai.

Today’s weather: Several areas are under orange and yellow alerts, and during the next five days, high winds are predicted throughout southern India.
Mumbai is under an orange alert today due to significant rainfall activity, according to the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) forecast for heavy showers across the nation.

In addition to Raigad Reserve, Alibag, and Shrivardhan in coastal Maharashtra, the IMD has issued alerts for Santacruz, Borivali, Mulund, Powai, Chembur, Worli, and Colaba in Mumbai. In these regions, cloudy skies and extremely heavy precipitation over 15 mm per hour are anticipated.

The eastern and central sections of Maharashtra are expected to continue to have light rainfall, with some areas seeing gusty gusts, lightning, and thunder.

In addition to Maharashtra, the IMD has predicted severe rainfall in coastal Karnataka, Goa, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Jammu & Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh.

As rains continue to batter the Arabian Sea beaches, orange and yellow alerts have been issued for several areas across the country, with a yellow alert covering almost the whole Konkan coast.

Over the next five days, peninsular India is predicted to experience severe surface winds of up to 50 km/h, according to the IMD’s daily advisory. Heavy rain is also predicted for southern West Bengal from July 23 to July 27.

Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab are under orange alert.
The second level of IMD’s four-tier warning system, orange alerts, have been issued for several districts in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.

Light thunderstorms and moderately high winds are predicted for today in Punjab, putting the cities of Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Moga, Barnala, Bathinda, Sangrur, and Mansa under alert.

On July 21 and 22, Uttarakhand is expected to see heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.

Previously, Dalhousie, Chamba, Nurpur, Dharamsala, Kangra, Dehra, Una, Nalagarh, Baddi, Nahan, Renukaji, and Kaza were all under orange alerts from the Shimla Meteorological Department. The IMD predicts that Himachal Pradesh will have significant rainfall until July 27.

Because of the flood-like scenario, schools have been closed in Rajouri, Jammu.

Due to the ongoing downpour that has caused flood-like conditions, the Rajouri District Administration in Jammu has announced that all government and private schools in the district will be closed today.

Normal living has been interrupted by rising water levels in the Saktoh and Dharhali rivers. The Amarnath Yatra was also halted last week because to heavy rains.

Warnings for fishermen in coastal areas
Fishermen’s advisories are in effect for a number of coastal areas through July 26.

Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Kerala, Karnataka, Lakshadweep, Maldives, and Comorin are among the Arabian Sea coasts.
The coasts of the Bay of Bengal include the Andaman Sea, the Gulf of Mannar, Tamil Nadu, southern Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal.

According to the IMD, there will be a lot of rain in Jammu and Kashmir until July 23. Today, there could be some light thunderstorms and surface winds of less than 40 km/h.

Delhi has no weather alerts.
Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region are not under any alerts from the regional meteorological agency today.

It is anticipated that Safdarjung will experience a minimum temperature of 27.2°C and a maximum temperature of 35.5°C.

Up till July 27, isolated regions of Rajasthan, eastern Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana are expected to see cloudy sky and sporadic rains.
