Shariful Islam, the accused, called the FIR comments a “imaginary story” and said he had not assaulted actor Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra home earlier this year.
Arrested for supposedly assaulting actor Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra home in January this year, Shariful Islam asked bail Friday from the Mumbai sessions court. On April 1, the bail application will be heard.
Islam claimed in his appeal that he had done no wrongdoing and that a phoney case had been filed against him. Calling the FIR comments a “imaginary story,” Islam stated that should he be released on bail, he will follow the court’s terms.
Filed via attorney Ajay Gawali, the bail application read, “The Applicant claims that even if the stated witnesses are taken as a gospel truth, without admitting anything on record, for the sake of arguments then also it won’t be able to fulfil the ingredient of Section 311 of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita ( robbery or dacoity with attempt to cause death or grievous injury).
It further said that just the chargesheet filing was outstanding and the case investigation was “practically completed.”
The Bandra police filed a First Information Report (FIR) on January 16 against an unidentified intruder who broke into Khan and his wife Kareena Kapoor’s home. Khan emerged from his room and interrogated the guy when a staff worker at the property spotted the burglar and sounded an alarm. The actor was then reportedly assaulted with a hexa blade and sustained wounds on his neck, back, and hand. The intruder got away even as Khan was hurried to the hospital.
Tracking Islam using CCTV footage and other technical proof, the Mumbai police detained him from Thane on January 19. According to the authorities, Islam is a Bangladeshi national who entered the country unlawfully.
