Maharashtra, a state renowned for its dynamic political scene, saw a rush of activity on September 4, 2024. The day was filled with a variety of protests, announcements, and on-the-ground visits, from the political leaders of the state addressing important concerns to the commuters inconvenienced by the ongoing ST employees’ strike.

Strike by ST Employees Paralyzes Public Transportation

Public transportation in the state of Maharashtra has been severely disrupted by the collective strike of state transport (ST) personnel in the state. Bus services have been suspended at important sites, including Shivajinagar Bus Station in Pune, as a result of the strike, which started today[1]. Commuters are bearing the brunt of the current labor turmoil, leaving them stranded.

Aaditya Thackeray Examines Flood Damage in Marathwada

In order to personally check the afflicted areas and speak with the farmers impacted by the floods, Thackeray traveled to the districts of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Nanded, and Hingoli with government representatives[1]. Renaming Three Pune Metro Stations

CAS dismisses Vinesh Phogat’s appeal

Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat suffered a blow when her appeal against the decision to not award her an Olympic silver medal was denied by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)[3]. The ruling, which was signed by Sole Arbitrator Annabelle Bennett, declared that Phogat’s August 7, 2024, application was denied[3]. Uncle and coach Mahavir Phogat stated that he thinks Vinesh would always be a champion in the eyes of her fans, even after the setback[3].

Jaishankar meets Wang Yi and demands an early settlement of the LAC dispute

In a diplomatic move, Chinese counterpart Wang Yi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met in Bali[3]. The encounter took place the day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished the Dalai Lama a happy birthday in a public statement[3]. Jaishankar underlined the necessity of swiftly resolving the current border issue along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) during the meeting[3]. The conversation takes place as India-China relations are worsening as a result of the military standoff.
