Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated minister Girish Mahajan was deployed to Srinagar following the Pahalgam terror attack; three other ministers were assigned to coordinate at Mumbai and Pune airports.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis confirmed on Wednesday that six state tourists died in the Pahalgam terror attack and stated Cabinet minister Girish Mahajan has left for Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir to work with local authorities there.

Fadnavis stated in a social media post that measures were being made to return trapped tourists from Jammu and Kashmir and that the six victims’ dead remains would be brought to Maharashtra. Among the 26 individuals murdered in the terror incident in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the six from Maharashtra were included.

Fadnavis stated in an X post that Sanjay Lele and Dilip Desale’s remains were being flown in an Air India flight to Mumbai slated to leave Srinagar at 12.15 pm. Fadnavis’s post indicates another flight carrying the bodies of two other fatalities, Hemant Joshi and Atul Mone, will leave Srinagar to Mumbai at 1.15 pm.

Lele, Joshi, and Mone were maternal cousins who had visited Kashmir with their own families. Reports said the cousins’ bodies will be transported to Mumbai and set at Bhagshala Maidan in Dombivli for paying homage. The Hindi Shmashan Bhoomi in Dombivli (East) will host the last rites.

He said a flight carrying the remains of two Pune fatalities, Santosh Jadgale and Kaustubh Ganbote, would leave Srinagar at 6 pm to Pune later in the evening. Earlier, Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi stated that Jadgale and Ganbote perished in the Pahalgam terrorist assault and that they were from Khadakwasla.

Sources claimed two more bodies, Sumit Parmar and Yatish Parmar, would also arrive in Mumbai about 3 pm.

According to Fadnavis, top Cabinet ministers Mangal Prabhat Lodha and Ashish Shelar of the Maharashtra government have been given responsibility for coordinating activities at the Mumbai airport. Coordination at the Pune airport would be under Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal.
