Chandrakant Raghuvanshi has been nominated by the Shiv Sena, which is headed by Eknath Shinde, for the Legislative Council bypolls that are scheduled to take place on March 27. Three candidates have been announced by the BJP for the position, with two seats reserved for its allies, the Shiv Sena (Shinde) and Ajit Pawar’s NCP.
The Shiv Sena, which is led by Eknath Shinde, has put forward Chandrakant Raghuvanshi as a candidate for the lone seat that the party will hold in the Legislative Council by-elections that are slated to take place on March 27. It was Raghuvanshi, a former Member of Legislative Council and the communication leader of the party for Dhule-Nandurbar, who was chosen over Sheetal Mhatre, a former Mumbai corporator, and Ravindra Dhangekar, a former Congress Member of Legislative Assembly who just joined the Sena. Following Sena’s Aamsha Padvi’s election as a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Akkalkuwa, this seat became vacant.
During this interim period, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced that Sandip Joshi, Sanjay Kenekar, and Dadarao Keche will be running for the by-elections. When its council members were elected to the Legislative Assembly in November, five seats fell vacant, which prompted the Central Election Committee to take action and remove their names from the list of candidates. Two seats have been set aside for the Shiv Sena (Shinde) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Ajit Pawar, both of which are supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Due to the fact that the BJP holds a majority in the assembly, it is anticipated that all of its candidates will be elected without any significant resistance.
