Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde claims Uddhav Thackeray is reflecting Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s words under Rahul Gandhi’s influence.
Shiv Sena president and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday unleashed a scathing assault on Uddhav Thackeray for opposing the Waqf Amendment Bill in Parliament, charging him with forsaking Hindutva and Balasaheb Thackeray’s legacy forever.
Uddhav Thackeray has utterly turned his back on Hindutva and the values of Balasaheb Thackeray by opposing the Waqf Amendment Bill. Shinde remarked that his position has not only revealed his ideological uncertainty but also raised doubts about his political future.
Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Shinde remarked that Thackeray’s opposition to the Bill has let down even his comrades, many of whom still value Balasaheb’s ideals. “Yesterday was an unfortunate day for him,” he said, referring to Thackeray’s political blunders.
Shinde claimed the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader’s assertion that his opposition to the Bill had nothing to do with Hindutva but is only a stand against the BJP’s supposed duplicity exposed his ideological instability. “His condition is such that if he holds on to something, it bites him; if he lets it go, it runs away,” the Sena leader stated.
Shinde claimed that Balasaheb Thackeray had always separated “nationalist” Muslims from anti-national forces, a position the Shiv Sena and the BJP had always maintained. He later charged Uddhav Thackeray with repeating Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s rhetoric under Rahul Gandhi’s influence.
His footing is eroding. Shinde remarked, “His press conference today was just a frantic effort at damage control.”
Shinde claimed the Waqf Amendment Bill is meant to guarantee that poor Muslims gain from waqf properties and to stop unlawful theft of such properties.
Reiterating his party’s unrelenting dedication to Hindutva, Shinde said the Shiv Sena stayed faithful to the vision of Balasaheb Thackeray and Dharmaveer Anand Dighe. These values will never be compromised by us. Uddhav Thackeray’s actions today constitute an even greater treachery than his 2019 partnership with the Congress and the NCP, according to him.
Shinde cynically wondered whether Uddhav Thackeray’s initials UT now stand for “use and throw”.
He kept complaining for two and a half years while we kept toiling. The people trapped him in a box, though, in the elections. He should now let us work quietly; otherwise, I have much to expose—don’t get me started.
